More Baby Steps

This is probably boring for anyone else but us but we are making progress on the storage units.  I've decided to wait until they are loaded to add the doors since the doors would probably just get in the way with them all open at once.
It may not seem like a big step but this means we can move all of the boxes that are clogging up the shared spaces in the house ... into my new sewing room!  Whew!  It will be nice to get some breathing room instead of living like we are in a slide puzzle.

In other news, I got my car back from the dealer and, thankfully, the air conditioning is working again and it was covered under warranty (bonus since it was a $1500 repair).
This was yesterday's view from the next block over.  Apparently, there was some drama with calves stuck in no man's land and mama cows getting pretty agitated.

  1. What a great helper you have! The shelves look fabulous?.. ..now we need to see them filled with fabric. Love seeing the cow! Reminds me of growing up on the farm!!!!

    1. Thanks, Dianne! I can't wait to start putting things away so that I can start pulling things out. I like the cows too. It reminds me that we are a bit "further out" and have some breathing room from the heart of the concrete jungle.

  2. I think you need Dianne there to help you "head em up, move em on". I wonder if that is part of the reason Sherman has been odd during walks. I don't think he is used to cattle smell. The shelves look wonderful. Glad you are making progress.

    1. Sherman had started acting so strange on walks before we left--terrified of sewer grates of any kind. I think you may be onto something though. There are lots and lots of dogs in the neighborhood but you don't really see hardly any of them due to the block walls. I'll bet he is smelling lots of invaders and it probably makes him even more skittish about what is lurking about.

  3. It looks like everything beginning to come together. Isn't it great to start with new storage for your sewing room. I'm sure we will soon be seeing something wonderful "Made in Arizona by Lori".

  4. I hope you are right, Ruth! I unpacked about 10 boxes yesterday so that is a good start. I probably have 25 more to go. I went to the local guild meeting last night and that was encouraging. They meet twice a month plus a Saturday sew-in every month. There seems to be a lot of energy and knowledge in the group so that is encouraging.

  5. That looks like an impressive closet.
    How high are those celings?
I bought Jarlsberg cheese spread yesterday
And thought of Brady and Sherman

    1. Thanks. The units are huge and they are attached to each other plus the wall. They are 22" deep so the storage adds up. They are the taller version which are 93" high (which means they'd probably have to be taken apart to be removed from that room. The ceilings are 9 ft tall in the house.

I thought about seeking out the Jarlsberg here and making some cheese spread. Brady has mentioned it so I know he misses it. Sherman has Mike around full time so he is getting lots of bacon, I think. He still misses you, though, even if he is mostly Mike's beggar.
